Frequently asked questions.
Why don’t I smell my candle anymore?
Your candle has plenty of fragrance. What happens is what is called nose blind. As you sit in a room with your candle, you become acclimated to the scent. The fragrance seems to have gone away. It has not. You have just become used to the fragrance. Take a break from the room. Go outside for 10 minutes or so, come back in, the wonderful fragrance will be restored until you become nose blind again.
Why is the flame high?
The flame is high because of an untrimmed wick. We use wick trimmers to trim candles before each and every burn. Wick trimmers can be found easily on Amazon. We place our trimmer flat against the surface of the wax, and trim it there. This leaves roughly 1/8'“ of wick to light. Do not trim wicks longer than 1/4”. Our candles are tested for performance, and sized for wicks using the wick trimmer.
How do I clean out left over wax from my finished candle jar ?
Wax and fragrances are oily. We use a spoon or popsicle stick to remove remaining wax from the jar. Soak your jar in hot water to melt remaining wax. Remove the wick tab with pliers. These are attached with wick stickers, the sticker can be removed with a little elbow grease. Use Dawn dish soap to wash the jar. This will remove the wax as well as remove the oils. You will have a beautiful jar that is clean and ready for tea lights, votives, or as a container for Q-tips, or whatever you decide. Our Beach Glass candles are pieces of art. We would love to see them repurposed into home decor and not thrown in the trash.
What are your candles made of?
Our candles are only made with the best waxes, fragrance oils, and wicks. We use a blend of multiple waxes including soy, coconut, apricot, and a very small amount of food grade paraffin wax. This blend, through strenuous testing has provided incredible results with hot throw. Our Beach Glass candles are individually made one at a time including the jar artwork, and themed around the scent. We place the label on the lid as to not interfere with the beauty of the jar. No two candle jars will ever be the same. Our candles are never made in batches. Only and always one at a time for consistency and quality.
